The Westfjords in winter are as offbeat as it gets! Enjoy stunningly snowcapped fjordscapes, winter activity options and local culture on a thrilling super jeep tour.

Day 1 - Morning departure from Reykjavik in our super jeep. We travel through the pleasant landscapes of West Iceland before entering the great Westfjords. Today we are going to cross two notoriously snow heavy mountain passes. We take a first de-tour to Drangsnes village for excellent views over the Hunafloi bay.
Once we cross the second mountain pass we will enter the beautiful Isafjardardjup bay, which is at it's best during the winter months when the snowcapped mountains and jagged sub-fjords create an amazing visual display.

We take a second de-tour towards the wonderful Kaldalon glacial creek, from where we'll get top views over Isafjardardjup. In winter this road is only passable by 4x4 vehicles on snow tires. Afterwards we drive into a secluded valley and stay overnight in a cozy country hotel in the middle of nowhere.
We'll be watching out for northern lights in the evening and have the option of dipping in a 40 degree warm natural geothermal pool.

Day 2 - Today you can choose from various winter activities in the valley, including snow shoeing, cross country skiing and ice fishing. On a calm and snow-light day then hiking and sea kayaking are also options.
After dinner we drive to Isafjordur town, the picturesque capital of the Westfjords, through some wonderful fjords and watch out for the northern lights along the way. Stay the next two nights in Isafjordur.

Day 3 - Today you will visit the eco-friendly fishing village of Sudureyri for some fresh seafood tasting and an insight into the small local fisheries economy. Afterwards we'll visit the maritime museums of Bolungarvik and Isafjordur towns before wrapping up the with an informative culture walk of Isafjordur town.
In the evening we'll once again look out for the northern lights, and if they're visible take a late evening trip out of town for the perfect viewpoint.

Day 4 - It's time to leave the wild Westfjords behind and head back to the city - but we have a long way to go! En route we will stop at the Arctic Fox Centre, which is a cozy place for a morning tea and also where we can find more information about Iceland's only native mammal. Then we'll stop at Hvitanes seal colony to admire our curious friends.
After the first mountain pass we stop at Holmavik village where we visit the Magic & Witchcraft museum.
